Rules of the Dockagon

The Dockagon is a season long wager ($50 per player) where each player completes a single 18 hole scorecard over the course of a season by declaring a certain number of holes before any round and then choosing which scores to use after the round. Each hole is only scored once.

Eligible rounds

- Must be played during the regular golf season at the Canmore Golf & Curling Club.
- Must be played with at least one other member of the Dockagon.
- Men must play from the blue or gold tees, women can play from any of the regular tee boxes (red to black).
- The round must be properly declared prior the starting the round.

How to play

Declaring a round is optional, but the player must score all 18 holes before the end of the season.
Prior to starting a round, the player must declare the number of holes that will be scored, the holes being played and which member(s) of the Dockagon are in the group. The declaration is made via group chat to all members of the Dockagon. Example 1 - Rob is playing 18 holes, declares 2 holes, and is playing with Kenny and Steph. Example 2 - Chips is playing the front 9, declares 1 hole and is playing with Parm.
After the round on the same day, the player chooses the holes to score and submits to the group chat the hole number and gross score for the number of holes declared at the start of the round. The player must submit scores in accordance with the declaration. In order to score a hole: The hole shall not have been previously scored this season. The hole was played in full accordance to Golf Canada’s rules (e.g. no mulligans, foot wedges, or gimme putts). The hole must be played at full yardage. Holes under repair and using alternate tee boxes do not qualify.
If the player doesn’t have enough eligible scores to complete their declaration, they will be assessed a 2 stroke penalty per declared hole not scored.
In the event of a declared round interrupted by events beyond the players control (e.g. lightning, emergency, injury), a player must score according to the declaration if any un-scored holes were played prior to the interruption. If there are insufficient un-scored holes played, the player is partially or fully excused from their declaration. E.g. Rob declared 2 holes and has all holes on the front 9 scored except for hole number 5. The round is interrupted by lightening after 8 holes were played. Rob must score hole number 5 and is excused from his second score. Players are encouraged to consider the probability of an interrupted round prior to declaring.

Scoring, Penalties and Exceptions

The wager is based on net scores with the each players handicap set at their index at the time of joining the Dockagon. A player’s handicap in the Dockagon is set once per season.
If any player is found violating the rules of the Dockagon, penalties can be assessed by the Commissioner and shall be communicated in the group chat. Commissioner decisions can be appealed if supported by more than 75% of the Dockagon.
If any exceptional situations arise that are outside of the rules of the Dockagon, a ruling shall be made by the Commissioner and shall be communicated in the group chat. Commissioner decisions can be appealed if supported by more than 75% of the Dockagon.

Winning

Winner takes all. The lowest net score to par on a completed 18 hole scorecard wins the pot. Uncompleted cards are disqualified.
